The words echoed in Mikes mind, “as in friends? or a…date?” He hadn’t expected her to ask that question, but he should have seen if coming. Honestly, he was leaning more towards a date—after today he was dying to get to know her better, and to get closer to her. But there was always the chance that if he said date, he would scare her off. There was always the chance that she didn’t want to date him. He bit his lip, fidgeting around slightly. Dilemmas dilemmas. “Well..I’d love to spend some alone time with you…” he mumbled, not directly answering her question, hoping that she would take his answer the way he had intended her to. He had been hoping for a little date, but maybe if that’s not what she had in mind she would take what he said in a different way than it had been intended. He sighed, looking over at Siobhan, waiting. love is just a chemical creation synthetic sensation me you and my medication she finally said to him, "let's just hope that i don't hurt myself before i see you again." she wouldn't know what she would do if she couldn't dance, even for a short amount of time. she bit her lip a little harder, wondering why he couldn't just answer her question. "so, a date?" she asked, excitement flashing in her eyes now. though, it was slightly covered up by confusion. siobhan was going to get to the bottom of it, since she was a persistent person. she wanted it to be a date, why couldn't it be? if he didn't want it to be, then she wouldn't have to go through the humiliation of telling everyone that she was going on a date with mike, and have him find out, then tell her that it in face, wasn't a date. she'd be totally humiliated. she'd tell corine to hide her in her closet or something and feed her from time to time. hopefully, she wouldn't have to do that though. and he'd just tell her what she wanted to hear. He cracked his knuckles subconsciously, staring down at the ground, taking in the silence. He was beginning to wonder what she was thinking, if she was weirded-out that he was asking her to go somewhere with him or something. But the silence was soon broken by her question, “so, a date?” He wanted to just stand up and scream yes, but he couldn’t decide is she seemed excited that it could possibly be a date, or disappointed. Instead he looked up at her, tensing up slightly. He sighed, blinking slowly, looking her up and down. Finally he spoke, “Yes, I was hoping so.” His eyes widened as he stared straight at Sio, debating in his mind how she would react. “So, you up for it?” he added hopefully, shifting his position on the bed, his eyes still locked on her face. love is just a chemical creation synthetic sensation me you and my medication she said, holding her leg up for emphasis. it would be tragic, of course, but it wouldn't be a surprise. though, he was definitely clumsier than her, but since she was a solo dancer, it was easier for her to hurt herself then other people. and with mike, he was now a partner dancer, or at least when he was with siobhan he was, and he had more potential to hurt other people than himself then she did. the only way she could hurt other people was if her dance sucked, which she thought they always did, but they usually never did. mike would be the deciding factor of that, especially when she decided to show him the dance she was going to do for the competition at the end of the year. a smile erupted across her face. he finally said it. and he really was asking her out. she was so excited right about now. but when she talked, her excitement didn't show through her voice. she kissed his cheek lightly, and then said "i would love to." she could now tell corine that her dreams finally came true. that she had a date with the boy that had her attention since the beginning of this year. she would be excited for siobhan, since she hadn't had a boyfriend in a while. and none of them truly understood how much dance meant to her. and when sio accidently blew them off, they automatically accused her of cheating. it wasn't her fault that they didn't believe her. she told them exactly where she was and what they were doing. and they thought it was just a cover up. she'd never cry as hard as she did when they broke up with her, ripping her heart to shreds over and over. He didn’t actually believe that it could be true, assuming that she was just back to her modest self—not wanting to admit that she was an amazing dancer and all. “Now I doubt that,” he laughed, wiggling his finger at her. “Remember how I said you should be less hard on yourself?” He nodded slowly, a grin spread across his face all the while. She really did need to quit being so hard on herself—it wasn’t healthy. He peered down at her leg, laughing again. “Besides, if anyone is going to have a sprained ankle soon, it’ll have to be me,” he added, thinking about how he was supposed to be dancing again with Sio soon. He knew that even if she did end up hurting herself, she would still keep dancing, so it’s not like that was even a way for him to get out of dancing. But he didn’t mind it so much, as long as none of the other campers saw his failed attempts at dancing. Mike mimicked Sio’s smile, wide eyed and excited that she seemed excited. But the grin grew larger as she kissed his cheek and he heard her words, “I would love to.” Well if he had known that she would have said that, asking her to go on a date with him would have been much easier, and quicker. His grin remained on his face as he looked down at the ground, trying to think about somewhere they could go. There were restaurants around, and the movie theatre, mini-golf—there were plenty of options. “Anywhere in particular you’d like to go?” He asked, looking back up at her, still grinning slightly. love is just a chemical creation synthetic sensation me you and my medication she said, a smile on her face. she didn't know that she could be mean at all, especially to mike. but she was not being mean on purpose. she was just fooling around. she suddenly regretted saying that, because she didn't want to hurt his feelings for real. "except i'm kidding," she said afterwards. she hoped that he believed her, since she didn't want him to be upset. that was the last thing she wanted to happen to him. she shook her head lightly. "anywhere works," she said, and she added in her head, 'as long as i spend the day with you.' she was so excited. she wasn't going to be able to sleep tonight, and she knew that. she would be too excited about being able to spend the day with mike, and that was definitely something someone should be excited about. she knew that everything was going to be different now too, hopefully in a good way. she squeezed his hand, excited that he really did just ask her out. it was something that she wouldn't forget for a while. she really liked mike, and apparently he had an interest in her too, which made everything better. He cleared his throat as Siobhan spoke again. this time about him injuring her. He had a pretty good feeling that she was just kidding—and that feeling was confirmed when she said so herself that she was kidding. Either way he knew that it technically was true—it was definitely very possible that he could end up injuring her while they were dancing again. It was a miracle he hadn’t already hurt her. “You may be kidding, but there’s a good point you have there,” he said, nodding his head, a smiled spread across his face. He bit his lip, now trying to figure out himself where they should go. There were a few too many options. “Do you know what time you’ll be done with dance and all that stuff?” he asked, cocking his head to the side. He swayed his feet back and forth, still contemplating where they should go. They could always just go out to eat, maybe go see a movie, anything would work for him—and obviously anything would work for Sio as well. love is just a chemical creation synthetic sensation me you and my medication she said, sounding completely serious. she didn't know where anyone came from with this. all she knew was that she didn't think that she was too hard on herself. but it seemed that a lot of people told her that, and she didn't understand why people were saying that. she didn't want him to think that, because she really didn't think it was true. "you won't hurt me. i promise. and if you do, then i'll make sure not to make fun of you," she told him, smiling at him. she was glad that he knew she was kidding, but she really didn't think he would hurt her. she was just joking around with him. and she didn't want him to really think that. "i get done at six in the morning. and start again at six 'til eight," she said to him. it was true that she danced twice a day, two hours for each time she danced. she had to get up at three in the morning in order to make it for four in the morning at the dance cabin. and no one ever bothered her, because of the time that she was dancing. and everytime someone thought they were getting up early to get there for five, siobhan would show them up because she was already there, dancing her heart out. she wouldn't expect anyone to be there at four in the morning. and no one ever was. so it was easy for her to just dance when it came that time of the morning. If he ever did happen to hurt him dancing, he would most definitely refuse to ever try dancing again. Especially if he was to dance with her. He rolled his eyes, thinking about how early she must get up to dance that early in the morning. Though he did like mornings, he didn’t like being up at four AM on any morning. Seven was okay, but definitely not four. She was dedicated to her dancing if she was willing to get up that early everyday just to practice alone. Though it probably was rather peaceful at camp when you’re up and no one else is. “Well would you rather do something in the morning to afternoon? Or after eight?” Either way it didn’t matter to him, he could adjust his schedule to whenever. That was one nice thing about art, it didn’t really matter much when you were there, as long as you had enough time to get your project finished. love is just a chemical creation synthetic sensation me you and my medication she said, "i like the night better..." even though there were bugs and all other types of creatures at night, it seemed way more romantic. and if she was going to go on her first date with mike it was going to be romantic. she didn't care what he said, but she was going to make whatever they did romantic. she let her head go on his shoulder again, loving the feeling of holding his hand, being in this close proximity, and most of all being able to go on a date with him the next night. she was super excited, and she wanted to go and tell corine right now. but she knew that it'd be rude to text her right now, or to leave him sitting there when they were discussing things. she didn't want to leave him anyway, she wanted to sit with him. siobhan had the sudden urge to dance, but yet she wanted to sit there. and she had gotten out of dancing not too long ago. why had she been cursed with dancing in her blood? it was coming at the worst times, and she knew that she needed to fulfill this dancing need. why? because if she didn't she was going to go to bed and not be able to sleep. she'd still have that urge, and she wouldn't be able to do anything else but think about dancing. it was just what she did. even though that's what she did all the time, since she always thought about dancing. though, she used to be able to just get up and dance if she wanted to. but now she couldn't. she wanted to sit and talk to him. just sit there and not ever move. but she knew that if she still needed to keep dancing, then she wouldn't be able to stay there with him for as long as she wanted to. He was hoping that she would provide a suggestion or two, or maybe actually make the decision. Sure, he was the one who asked her to go with him, but he still couldn’t decide where would be the best place to go. Mike chewed on the inside of his cheek, a random habit of his, staring down at the ground. He observed the lines of color in the floor, and how they mixed together at various scattered points. It was probably a pretty random thing to stare at, but it interested him. He observed the random dents in the floor, shifting around on his bed. He pulled his feet up, now sitting criss-cross, looking up at the wall. He quickly glanced over at Siobhan, wondering what to do next. According to the clock they had been hanging out for nearly two hours—my how time flies. Though it had been a rather long period of time, none of his roommates had even tried to come in the cabin yet, which was actually pretty weird. The boy winced as he bit his cheek too hard, jumping slightly, rubbing his tongue against the irritated area. The silence was slightly awkward, but he didn’t really know what to say. He had said everything that he wanted to. Maybe she would have something to say to him?
